Venue booked from 7am - midnight both days.
When:
Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May 2005

AUD 20
There will be pads and pens and iced water and mints available for participants.
Accommodation
Mercure Hotel
$140.00 per night twin share
Phone Number: (07)3237 2300
Hotel Ibis
Hotel Ibis Brisbane is $119.00 ( this hotel is under the same ownership and there is a tunnel walkway which leads virtually to the door of the room we are hiring for the event) This is a perfectly good hotel with a cheaper rate for those on a budget.
Phone Number: (07)32372333
Although these prices were quoted as the "special rate" for the tournament attendee's - it is advised to check their web site for special rates in their hot deals section. The web site is easy to navigate and may save you a couple of bucks.
http://www.accorhotels.com.au/Guests wishing to make a booking can call through to reservations and receive the conference rate. They will need to advise reservations that they are attending the UDE Tournament.
A Cheap alternative...
The Palace Backpackers
Cnr Ann and Edward Street
Brisbane
These guys have dorms available from $21 - $23 per night and you can fill a dorm with anywhere from 4 - 9 people so if you are travelling in a group and really budgeting - this is it.
They have rules about what they consider a backpacker and who can stay. It is worth calling them to find out if you qualify. (I believe telling them you are ackpacking qualify's you).
http://www.palacebackpackers.com.au They have cheap breakfasts and are right across the street from Central Station (you can catch the Air Train to the Airport from here)
They are roughly 4-6 minutes walk tops to the Venue.
Getting to the city from the Airport:
Travelling alone - the best way to get to the city is the Air Train which
is outside the terminals at Brisbane Airport.
Travelling 3 or more - it is just as cheap to cab to the city.

According to the tralier I saw online the 15th but maybe the release date is different for us. Thought they would have a universal release date to stop piracy.
TheCrimsonScribe
Nov 17 2004, 06:46 PM
And the release day wouldn't be a Sunday either.

Nov 17 2004, 07:51 PM
It is either thew 19th or 21st. I have eben following it on theforce.net for like year now lol. It wouldmake more sense to be the 19th, being on the usual release day of a thursday.

Is the 10k a two day event, or will it be a single day like the others have been? If it's a single, which day will the 10k be on?
TheCrimsonScribe
Jan 16 2005, 03:45 AM
I believe it's a single day event again, with a PCQ being held on the other.
At least that was the last that I had heard.
Matt
Mar 1 2005, 10:36 PM
Chris,
Could you please confirm the event schedule. Will this be a two day event with swiss on Saturday and the finals on Sunday?

Mar 1 2005, 10:59 PM
im a new player, i know this is a stupid question...
whats a PCQ?
ssteven
Mar 2 2005, 01:50 AM
Can someone confirm the date on this - as far as I'm aware that's the same weekend as the YGO nationals, which can't be true.
PCQ = Pro-Circuit Qualifier - i.e. a tourney you play in that qualiifes you to play in one of the Pro Circuits around the world
honest
Mar 2 2005, 08:10 AM
YGO Nats is on the weekend of the 30th April 1st May, well separated.Don't panic sstevens, you still have 1 more Regionals to qualify for the YGO Nats on March 19th.
Cheers

Sweet, so we can go to the $10k AND still have a chance to qualify for YGO nats, woohoo!
Oh wait.

Is the Brisbane 10k subject to the Modern/Golden Age format?
TheDarkAlliance
Mar 20 2005, 05:59 PM
It is not "subject" to anything per se.
The format will be announced at the appropriate time.
10k's do not follow the Pro Tour format except at the discretion of the people running it, in this case Chris Zantides.
davidt
Mar 20 2005, 07:19 PM
so we are to presume that it's going to be Goldern Age?
TheDarkAlliance
Mar 20 2005, 07:41 PM
All we know for sure at this time is that it is constructed.
It is possible that Mr Z will poll here to see what our preferences are, but I would put money on the fact that it will be Golden Age.

We want it to be sealed. 5 packs, 3 rounds, new 5 packs, 3 rounds, new 5 packs, 2-4 rounds. approx $50
i live here in bris and may be willing to have a couple of people stay with me. I'd like to have met the person(s), but any amount of begging may suffice. This would include transport to and from the venue, either by me driving (split any parking fees) or by public transport (pay your own way)
Invitation open to anyone i know (subject to my girlfriend's approval), and considerations will be given to nice people i haven't met who beg well.
I live about 15-20 mins drive away.

Hey Luke its Ross
Let me know if anyone takes up your offer as I know about 10 of them from the PC in LA. I can tell you if you want them staying in your house
Matt

There's no way it will be sealed, and is unlikely to be Modern Age (though I'd prefer it) so I guess we should all just assume GA and start testing.

sealed or constructed?
Or is it still unapropiate to ask......
TheDarkAlliance
Apr 14 2005, 12:07 PM
Constructed.
Pretty sure Golden Age, though it may be Modern Age.
I actually would prefer Golden Age, because If I have to stand and judge through 12 hours of "JUDGE" "MY OPPONENT DIDNT GRAVESITE" I think I might just die.
