Well it's been about 4 months since the game was released and I have yet to see (or even hear of) a sanctioned tournament for the game. I've also realised that as it's aimed at Yu-Gi-Oh the average competitors age might be a bit lower than mine). It also turns out that UDE make better answers to Magic than Wizards do to UDE games.....
So, on the off chance that anyone is interested in a rather extensive Duel Masters collection (about 98% of the 1st set and 1 box of the 2nd) I'll sell or trade it away - at generous rates I might add.

Just as a note - I dont think I'd dump it quite yet - I know WotC are keen on it but have been holding off a bit pending the cartoon release... or so the rumors go...

Cartoon is starting to be shown on foxtel next month so I would hang onto it for a bit longer as you will probably get a better price

I was originally told the cartoon was going to start airing on Cheez TV "in June", so either I had the wrong information or something else slipped.
I can hold on to it for indefinitely, though if I'm not going to play it, I'd rather shift it.

I wouldn't dump it yet - it is definately showing on TV in the next couple of months along with a large campaign promoting it - or so i have heard.
OGC will be supporting it with organised play when there are some players who want to play sanctioned stuff and you may find some other promo stuff happening around the place.

You could probably call Duel Masters an interesting "cross breed" of Magic and Vs.
Before I had seen Vs it seemed more like the Portal sets from Magic, but when I think about it now, it's very much like Vs.
The basics:
- A resource is any card from your hand.
- You can play 1 resource per turn.
- Creatures attack one at a time
- Most creatures have "summoning sickness"
- Creatures attack either the player directly, Blockers may "redirect" an attack to themselves.
- When you deal damage to a player, you break a shield (you have 5 shields total).
- When a shield breaks, it is returned to it's owner's hand.
- You die the next time you are dealt damage once your shields are broken.
I think that's enough for now.
