Okay, next question...
When drafting/sealed what proportions of characters, twists & locations (and equipment) do people aim for to get a consistant deck.
Magic likes the 24/16 nonland/land split - what does VS like?

Aha - well I've quickly found that drafting VS is a bit unlike drafting MtG - the main difference I have found is that while with MtG, where you only ever end up using around 26 or 27 cards MAXIMUM out of the 45 you draft, with VS you have to use 30 of the 42. What this means is that the 9th and 10th picks (out of 14 card boosters) are actually VERY relevant to the deck you end up with. You'll essentially have a few cards at least that you'd rather not play with and will end up usually going towards being face down resources - but if you can maximise the effectiveness of these 9th and 10th picks you may get situations where that bizzare card actually comes good.
Ratio wise I like about 18 characters and 12 "other" - I'm a big fan of the equipment in draft as well, which although permanent, counts as an "other"
Many of the strong constructed Locations are a bit irrelevant in draft - though Savage Land can be quite... Savage..., so most of my 12 others are split between equip and plot twists

I've been reading up a bit about the recruitment curve for drafting VS and while I haven't had the chance to test them, I've included a slightly amended recommendation.
It's seen as okay to run up to 20 or 22 characters in draft apparently, especially with the arrival of DC, which makes Loyalty (can't recruit a character unless you have another character with the same team affiliation already in play) a lot more relevant. There would be nothing worse than having a Batgirl in hand on turn four when the only Gotham Knights you had in play got KO'ed on turn three.
Anyway, here are the recommended numbers.
RC 1 - 1
RC 2 - 3
RC 3 - 4
RC 4 - 4
RC 5 - 3
RC 6 - 3
RC 7 or 8 - 2
Also, I once read that defensive twists tend to be more relevant than offensive ones in draft, although I haven't been able to totally test that out either.

Just an interesting note. With the introduction of DC, the draft strategy has changed. While in Marvel 6 drops were like nuggets of gold and 7 drops platinum, there are plenty to scoop up in DC. There were 6 drops coming in at 6th-9th pick, making the more like lumps of coal than gold. Though the 7 drops while still rare are much slimmer than their marvel counterparts. Makes for an interesting draft. And the fact that there seems to be less defensive plot twists.

So very true, and so very funny to see Scott Smith get up and leave the table in disgust!

They do. DC is great for drafting. Watch out for loyalty though. I was caught out by it the first time.

I think there should be more 5's and 6's in the curve, probably 4 5-drops and 6 6-drops (including Boost 7's). 8-drops are good but not early picks by any means.
You only need 1 and 2 drops if you are using a 4 drop with loyalty (Batgirl, Ra's) to assure you hit the curve on those important turns. Also, in DC pick plot twists earlier than Marvel as they dry up really quickly, Mr. Freeze is good in ANY deck and Titans Tower should almost always be taken (For use or cut)
I might just write and article about this business.
