Australian VS?
Does anyone know when the kindness of Australia will be getting a decent VS event? Cos we have been at the top once before, and we should be recognised for that.
Come on UDE give us that break, if Swayze can catch that dream wave/ Why cant VS Australia?
If Patrick played VS, would he be happy right now?

Seriously, I don't know...
I WANT VS to be strong again, like it was not so long ago in AU/NZ. It was a blast, and this site was the hub.
I had coffee with Zed today and we reminised about how frigging good it was.
The next BIG thing I know of is the World Championships, of which I have commited myself to going to already, in August, probably in Indianapolis. I can only encourage others to save up, and negotiated a pass out, asap.
Until then, unless someone puts up a kicking event proposal that will be self funding and have the power to draw back anyone who has ever played the game for another bash, the local scene is looking a little flat. If someone can come up with such an event, they are better than me, and I will happily and gratefully buy them all the beer they can drink for a day.
Maybe the Canberra-Sydney players could have a cool drink and discuss the matter during/after the Galactus crack event. If a proposal is put up that seems like it would work, I'd be happy to put up my $$$, stock and a venue to run it.
Heres hoping

if you were to run your own tournament do you need UDE approval?
I would be happy to play in a VS event, say silver age constructed, entry fee is about $30 and all money goes into the pot. Winners win $x, say:
40% for 1st
20 % for 2nd
10% for 3rd
10% for 4th
5% for 5th
5% for 6th
5% for 7th
5% for 8th
These events could happen quarterly or fifthly in sydney, canberra, brisbane, melbourne, adelaide.
if you got 50 players (pot of $1500) thats a decent amount of money for making the trip to have fun? below is just sh.its and giggles??? hahahha
40% for 1st thats $650
20 % for 2nd thats $300
10% for 3rd thats $150
10% for 4th thats $150
5% for 5th thats $75
5% for 6th thats $75
5% for 7th thats $75
5% for 8th thats $75

I think removing Sneak Previews and not even getting the watered down Release Celebrations hurt Australian Vs the most.
It was fine to realign Vs to the casual player, but the loss of the one regular event that really catered to the casual player and promote the game to new players was killed overnight.
Hobby League wasn't really working and I think we've done well in the ACT to fill that void with a Player of the Year series (monthly tournaments with formats as wacky or as straight forward as we want to make them). It's a simple store-based structure where the combined entry fees are distributed as store credit (allowing the retailer to make a margin). If the retailer is then serious about promoting, they can then use some or all of the margin collected over the year to fund larger end-of-year prizes. That's what we're doing and it has worked so far.
Hell, if UDE even wanted to just support that with one playmat per store per year, even that would help. Actually being able to access some of those exclusive cards would be nice too (dammit, they CAN'T cost that much to make, so why aren't they throwing us at least the tiniest of bones).
Those are the best ideas I can come up with at 5.24pm in a rush, but they are based on experience as a TO and a player of a community that is still doing okay (we can't even buy as much product as we'd like to). I'd be happy to discuss further ideas on Sunday.
Looking forward to it.

Paul and scott. You were talking about a VS tourney to remember the good times. So using the thread title can you make it happen?
