heres the situation

My opponent activates slaughter swamp.

In response I play transmutation

The way I see it Transmutation resolves first
Slaughter swamp doesn;t becuase it isn't in play any more

Was I right on this
Matt
No you're wrong. It's the same interaction as say Roy Harper and Terra.

The easiest way to describe it in simple terms is, If i throw a grenade at you and in response, you shoot me. You may take care of me, but the grenade will still explode.

When both players pass, Transmutation will resolve. Then when both players pass again, Slaughter Swamp will resolve next.

Removing Slaughter Swamp from play does not stop it's effect from resolving.

The relevant rule is as follows:

QUOTE
505.4 Once an effect is on the chain, it exists independently of its source. Removing the source of the effect does not negate the effect. Modifying the source of the effect does not modify the effect.

lol, life on the chain.

- reminds me of arguements with TDT back in the day "you can't dude, it's GONE!!!"

How many counters does pregnant woman need again?

Dave Humpheries had good ariticles on how removing the source doesn't remove the effect on a chain with a basketball example.

Not quite as hilarious as throwing grenades though!

In other words, it's like playing a PT from your hand, right? The card goes to the KO'd pile, but the effect gets put on the chain...?
Ike E Bear
Technically, I think a PT played from hand goes into the Chain Zone first.

QUOTE
213.6 Chain Zone

213.6a The chain zone, or ?the chain? for short, represents the area of the game where players place character or equipment cards being recruited, plot twist cards being played from the hand, and/or effects, as instructed by the game rules. All players share the chain zone.

QUOTE
505.1a The player announces the intended effect, reveals its source if that source is not currently revealed, and puts the effect on the chain. Certain effects may have a physical card representing them. If an effect has a physical card representing it, the player puts the card on the chain. If it does not have a physical card representing it, the source of the effect remains revealed while the effect is being played.

Slowmail quoted the relevant rule for the initial question, though. No more explanation is needed than that ... although Matt'a grenade analogy was awesome.
