Full Version: Event Coverage
VSParadise Forums > Feature Focus > Australia/NZ: $10,000US VS Tournaments

Despite it being a CC, I just can't picture either VSUniverse or Metagame providing that much in the way of live coverage, so I'm volunteering to post all the relevent details here if someone is willing to get them to me.

I was thinking something along the lines of an SMS after each round with the pretinent results of forum members (and the T8 etc).
Vanwolfgang
Excellent idea TCS, Im sure we can do this.

We'll definetly be putting up a dedicated page that night but live updates would be awesome.
Cool Zero
coverage is a good idea... maybe we could bring along a computer and write the results straight up. I don't think live coverage is necessary, but we could definatley write up something for Metagame.com or if they aren't interested we definatly have it for VSparadise.com

yeah definitely a good idea, could we ask the hotel for net access or better yet, could we just phone (local) the details to someone who can then upload them to vsparadise. just some suggestions smile.gif
Cool Zero
Still I don't think live coverage is worth it if it will cost money or extended time. I'm thinking interivews and stuff, and then post it up the next day?

just standings n stuff, scott S

i'm back to why bother... who's going to care if random x sydney player is no.1 followed closely by another random x sydney player.

If people are interested in which decks are winning, it won't hurt to have it the next day...

with that said, I'm not the one who's going to be doing it so you guys go right ahead and do what your gonna do biggrin.gif

Good to see you classify yourself as a random CZ.

As for why bother - there are people who can't make it, and just like any other decent sized event, people like to know what's happening.

The more information that can be obtained between rounds the better, I say.
Vanwolfgang
I"ll try my best to get access to a laptop for the event.

As far as Im aware Seck will be doing coverage for Metagame.com, and if Im not comfortable with the deck I intend to use then I might just do coverage rather then play.
Cool Zero
Because if Seck plays, and gets bashed in his home turf, then they can't say that he's the best Aus player, becuase he's the only one they've seen on the PC. Wait til December....

For their million dollars, could they have scripted this any better if they?d done it beforehand? ?If I was scripting it there would have been a non-American and Kim Caton both in the Top 8,? Jeff said. Kim Caton, for those living in a cave, took the tournament by storm when she defeated the best Magic player ever, Kai Budde, in round 10 while they were sitting in the feature match area. She finished the tournament in 10th place, making a cool six grand for her weekend?s worth of work. The top finishing non-North American was Australian Ben ?TBS? Seck.

God.... why couldn't we all have gone and then it would say OMG the whole top 8 are Australians!!! where did these guys come from.... laugh.gif or maybe not

got me, u had me at hello

joke or not, can't wait to go even if just to show Seck isn't the best non american VS player.

Judging from metagame coverage, live coverage = good.
ssteven
Have a look at the MTGParadise Aust Nats coverage page we've done HERE - we'll probably do something similar for the $10k, interviews, results, metagame, decks, etc. We'll also do something at least semi-live, even if Metagame is doing soemthing as well - we'll coordinate something beforehand either via TCS (I'll PM you) or some other way - we'll keep you posted.
EggNet
Either way, some kind of coverage is great. Anything that can help promote the game and VsParadise is great.
TheCrimsonScribe
My thoughts eggsactly.

Metagame.com will be covering this event. I've been hired to cover the events (rather than play in em!) So you guys who won't be able to make it (hopefully few of you) will be able to follow on the net (hopefully without to much lag).

Cool Zero

I'm assuming this comment means "as live as humanly possible", or "I'll be submitting live, it's up to them when they post it".

TCS hit it right on the head - I'll give them the updates - but it's up to them to get it out as soon as possible!

BTW It wont be Australian-only affair ... a discreet but small force dry.gif will be gatecrashing this gig from across the Tasman huh.gif
Cool Zero
Cool... the more the merrier

Uhh, whereabouts you from Legend - having no knowledge of Geography, is the Tasman the water between Victoria and Tasmania? I.e. could you be from NZ?
TheCrimsonScribe
LOL

The Tasman Sea is the wet bit that seperates Australia from New Zealand.

The Bass Straight is the wet bit that keeps those crazy Taswegians away from our women.
Cool Zero
isnt the tasman b/w here and NZ?
ssteven
Cool - the Kiwis are coming smile.gif
Cool Zero
we would like it known that ScottH is indeed American and that his ineptitude should not reflect poorly on Australians

...did I think that or say that? tongue.gif

Just thought I'd bring this issue back to the top of the forum, just in case something is being organised.
The Legend
Better get a haircut then. I might be on the net!

And definitely dont want one of those dorky pics like the do for feature writers on VSUniverse ... you'd think T-shirts only came in black! dry.gif
